Accepting New Clients

Eric Patterson

MSW,  LCSW

I’ve always been inspired by the Greek admonition, “Know Thyself.” On the surface, it seems simple, but as one philosopher concluded, truly knowing ourselves seems to be the easiest thing of all, yet the hardest. Self-reflection and self-awareness are fundamental to healing and key to leading an intentional, fulfilling life. As a therapist, my role is to help individuals navigate this process and make adjustments to resolve mental, emotional, and behavioral concerns. I’m passionate about educating and helping clients develop strategies and skills to navigate their challenges with confidence.

I view my relationship with clients as an alliance—one in which each individual is the expert of their own experience. I believe authenticity is essential; when I show up as my genuine self, clients feel empowered to do the same, opening the door to greater self-acceptance. My goal is to help clients discover and embrace every part of who they are—faults and all.

I have experience serving adolescents and adults through individual, family, and group therapy. I specialize in the assessment and treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders, ADHD, trauma, family conflict, grief/loss, and other conditions. I tailor treatment to each client, drawing from a variety of approaches, including CBT, DBT, sand/play therapies, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness. Beyond my clinical work, I have served as an adjunct instructor at UVU, provided supervision for student interns and MSW graduates, and have recently begun public speaking to educate on mental health issues.

My Story

My greatest inspiration has always been my dad. He overcame considerable hardship in his life and was always helping those who needed it most. His example shaped my decision to become a therapist and continues to influence how I show up for others. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, hiking, playing basketball, and weightlifting. Most of all, I love music and spending time with my family and friends.
